Confirmation Preparation

Confirmation Preparation is offered to students who are in 9th grade or above.  Our Confirmation Prep for the 20/21 year has already begun.

Confirmation is an important step in our journey as Catholics. Confirmation is the final step in Christian initiation completing in us what the sacrament of Baptism begins. It makes us full members of the church and at our confirmation, we receive the same outpouring of the Holy Spirit as the Apostles at Pentecost!

Confirmation is an important and sacred step in our Catholic journey. For that reason, we require students to attend a year of preparation meetings so they may understand what Confirmation is and why it is important for them to receive it.

Along with attending meetings, we will have a full day Confirmation retreat in the spring taking place on a Saturday to be determined. This retreat day gives us the opportunity to go deeper into prayer and truly ready ourselves as our day of Confirmation grows near.

The best way to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation is to receive Jesus in the Eucharist and hear the word of God at mass each Sunday with family and community. We ask that all students attend weekly mass with their families.

Service teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves as Jesus told us to do. Confirmation students will be asked to participate in 10 service events. Service events include serving at mass as a lector/ushers/or in other roles, the Good Shepherd Food distributions, or other community and parish events that arise.

There is a fee of $35 to register for this class. The maximum fee for a family  is $75. There is also a $45 sacrament fee when it comes time for Confirmation in the spring.
